On February 10, 2016, the Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows Board of Education and the City of Maple Ridge hosted a community consultation workshop to explore ideas for an elementary school, a neighbourhood learning centre and a potential community centre in the Albion area of Maple Ridge.
We then prepared an online survey for community members who were unable to attend our Feb. 10 workshop at Albion Elementary but who wanted to participate in our public engagement process. This survey ran from Feb. 11 to Feb. 15.
We reviewed all the feedback we received through our Feb. 10 workshop and the online survey, and presented the preferred plan for public review at our Open House presentation on Feb. 25, 2016, hosted at Samuel Robertson Technical.
Finally, we prepared an online survey for community members who were unable to attend our Feb. 25 Open House but who wanted to participate in our public engagement process. This survey ran from Feb. 26 to Feb. 29 (4 pm).

Next Steps
We will review all the feedback we have received through our February 25th Open House and the online survey.
The preferred plan for the proposed elementary school housing a neighbourhood learning centre will be presented to the Board of Education for approval, and then submitted to the Ministry of Education for funding approval.
We will post an update to the school district website at www.sd42.ca/yourvoice42 if and when the Ministry of Education approves the project.
The preferred plan for the proposed community centre will be presented to Maple Ridge City Council for approval. Updates will be posted on the City of Maple Ridge website.
What will be the results of this process?
1. A report summarizing relevant information, public feedback received, and key decisions relevant to the Board and the City.
2. A formalized partnership for development and operations of joint facilities.
3. A Project Definition Report for potential new school will be submitted (with Board approval) to the Ministry of Education for funding approval.
Project Purpose
The purpose of the consultation is to engage the community and stakeholders in helping define the vision for a new school in Albion housing a neighbourhood learning centre, as well as the vision for a new potential community centre on the same site. The project will also identify conditions for effective collaboration with future service delivery partners in the potential new school and community centre.
