Year-Round Schooling or “balanced calendar” reduces the long summer break and apportions these days throughout the school year. Breaks are consequently shorter and more evenly distributed.
Like the traditional calendar, the year-round calendar is based on 878 hours of instruction for grades 1 to 7, and 853 hours of instruction for kindergarten.
In the Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District, Kanaka Elementary School offers year-round schooling.
